The St. Norbert College men's tennis team has high expectations for the 2010 season because the entire team returns for this season's play, including the two captains: senior Nate Tackaberry and junior Mike Hyrczyk .Last year, the team put up an overall 18-8 record heading into the conference tournament. Building on this success, Coaches Paul and Carrie Miller anticipate one of the best tennis seasons in the school's history.

Sophomores Derek Harrington and Jordan Bauer lead the singles line up at one and two singles. The remainder of the singles are as follows: Eric Koppman at three, Nate Tackaberry at four, Mike Hyrczyk at five, and Ethan Kadow at six. Sophomores Matt Schmitz, Tommy "Gun" Weiler, and first-year student Matt Lobeck add versatility and experience to the roster.

In doubles play, although the coaches aren't sure who will play at each spot, Hyrczyk and Bauer are likely to fill the first spot, with Derek Harrington and freshman doubles specialist Nick Acosta to follow them. Tackaberry and Koppman are expected to fill the third doubles spot.

Tackaberry has high hopes for his last season. "We have a better chance at winning conference this year," he said. "Other teams are still good, but we're young and the roster is deep. Everyone has an equal ability, which will get us lots of wins. We all have the same mind set and we all want to win."

With a veteran line-up and solid team depth, Tackaberry feels they will be able to accomplish great things this year. To date, the team is 2-2 with some impressive wins over Wartburg College and St. Mary's University.

The team will take on UW-Whitewater and UW-Green Bay this Friday, Feb. 26 at the Western Racquet Club.
