SNC Students Mix It Up

SNC students had an opportunity to mingle with people outside their usual circle of friends during lunch in the cafeteria thanks to this year's Mix It Up Day.The primary purpose of Mix It Up Day is to encourage students to eat lunch with new people while participating in fun activities.

Though the event is held nationwide, it was Sister Sally Ann Brickner, O.S.F. '67 who first suggested bringing it to SNC last year.

This year's Mix It Up day was coordinated by SNC dining services, student coordinator Michelle Natzke '13 and Beyond Borders.

"We want to get people outside their comfort zone," said Natzke.

About 50 people attended the two sessions on Feb. 26. They participated in activities including icebreakers and trivia.

Attendees were also awarded prizes and ice cream bars.

Due to the February event's success, another Mix It Up Day will be held on April 29. This one will focus on the philanthropic work of Greek and social groups on campus.

Students are able to either join the Mix It Up group on Facebook or simply walk in while the event is happening.

The April Mix It Up Day will again be held in the cafeteria in the Sensenbrenner Memorial Union during the lunch hour.

Melissa DaPra, union dining room manager, encouraged students to attend, saying, "It's a really fun way to engage new people.
