The Green Knight Company Army Reserved Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) Detachment celebrated its 74th year on campus by hosting its annual Dining Out Military Ball on Saturday, Feb. 27 at the Tundra Lodge in Green Bay. The event served as a chance for cadets to share their experiences and accomplishments with their family, friends and St. Norbert faculty. Guests of the event were treated to a fine meal, slide show presentation and speech by the Guest of Honor, LTC (RET.) Joseph Tullbane, associate dean for international education. The event is a very old Army tradition that focuses on building camaraderie and celebrating the numerous accomplishments of the soldier - all while bridging the gap between family, civilian and soldier. For many cadets and their guests, the ball is not only a chance to get dressed up and eat a fancy dinner; it is also a crash course in Army tradition and etiquette.
Overall, the function of any successful military gathering is simple: to celebrate the triumphs of the soldier and to forge the bonds of family that unite them in the selfless devotion to a higher calling of a nation in need. The Green Knight Company Dining Out represented these sentiments well and honored a fine tradition of leadership and excellence at St. Norbert College.
