Alpha Delta Gamma will soon be making its reappearance at SNC as the school's newest fraternity. The fraternity is being brought back to campus by sophomore Michael Poradek. Poradek explained his decision to reinvent the group by saying, "I was looking for a fraternity to join. (0) comments

"What do you think? What do you feel? What do you believe? And does it matter?" These are the questions that speaker Barry Scott asked SNC students at his presentation of some of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s most famous speeches. He encouraged them to think deeply about how far society has come and where it is headed with regards to tolerance. (0) comments
Adamant civil rights activist and well-respected evangelical preacher Dr. John Perkins told a campus audience that "there is a merging in America" brought by a new generation unbound by post-racial constraints. Dr. John Perkins, a passionate speaker for the rights of the young, discriminated and poor, criticized the corrupt governmental system which is not providing basic care for the needy and instilling fear in peoples' minds. At the two hour January meeting, the Student Assembly of the Student Government Association (SGA) met to discuss a variety of issues. One of the topics that SGA covered at the meeting was the issue of smoking on campus. Because smoking had been discussed at length during previous semesters, the primary goal was to propose solutions. (0) comments
The search for a new academic dean began after current dean Michael Marsden announced his retirement from the position in early fall. The academic dean search committee has narrowed down the candidates to three people, all of whom will be visiting the college within the month of February. (0) comments
In his recent article in the Chronicle of Higher Education entitled "Too 'Old School' for Our Own Good?", Thomas Kunkel, president of SNC, pointed out the similarities between the newspaper industry and higher education. Colleges across the nation today are scrambling to be affordable while still offering students the best quality education and extracurricular opportunities. "I just fell into the wrong 'tax bracket'," says first-year Kristen Cupp, former SNC student who decided to opt for the public option and transfer to UW-Eau Claire at semester after tuition expenses, loans and fees paid to SNC started to appear unbearable.
