Seventy-one graduating seniors in numerous fields of study were honored for their academic achievements at the annual Academic Awards Dinner. The event, held on April 21, 2009 in the Sensenbrenner Memorial Union, was well-attended by honorees and members of the faculty and included speeches, a meal and the distribution of awards. The St. Norbert College president's cabinet is currently in the process of reviewing the current age requirement policy to decide whether or not some or all students under the age of seventeen should be allowed the privilege of living on campus. The topic of concern is that the College would be held responsible if anything were to happen to a minor on campus. (2) comments

Having recently earned approval from the Higher Learning Commission, St. Norbert College plans to implement a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MLS) program in the fall of 2009. The program will be SNC's third graduate program, joining the Master of Science in Education and Master of Theological Studies programs. (0) comments
With the Miriam B. and James J. Mulva Library scheduled to open in the fall 2009, many members of the St. Norbert College community are wondering: what will happen to the Todd Wehr Library? The Wehr Library, originally built as a residential hall, will house offices and services that are currently scattered across SNC's campus. (0) comments
SNC's Campus Safety has recently undergone several new developments, both in equipment and in personnel, as well as creating a more effective lost and found program and making changes to parking policy. The department recently increased its surveillance equipment by purchasing a pan-tilt zoom camera and two monitors for video surveillance, as well as a new emergency radio scanner and bike pannier bags. On April 15, 2009, Sara Coursin '12 was announced as a finalist in the Church Hill Classics "Frame My Future" Scholarship Contest. Coursin, who is from Pewaukee, WI, submitted a collage that illustrates her dream of being a dentist. After encouragement from her parents to apply for scholarships, Coursin discovered this particular contest on scholarships. (2) comments
The Division of Mission and Heritage announced on Friday, April 24, 2009 that Dr. Robert Pyne has accepted the position of Director of the Peace and Justice Center. Pyne will begin on July 1, 2009. Pyne was on campus for an open forum, but those who were not able to attend could view his resume online. (0) comments
Bill Van Ess, a 1985 graduate of St. Norbert College, continued the men's program's annual Spring Work Day when he recruited five SNC students and another alumnus to participate in volunteer clean-up work on Friday, April 24 at the Greater Green Bay YMCA Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya. (0) comments
The St. Norbert Times has organized and hosted the first annual journalism conference for college and university students all over the Midwest. The event was held on April 25 and 26 on the St. Norbert Campus and the local SC Grand Banquet Hall. Registration on Saturday morning was followed by a lunch in Cofrin 15, where the approximately 30 attendees had a chance to introduce themselves and look over the detailed program of the conference. The Joan P. Schaupp Women's Center hosted the 11th annual Phenomenal Woman Conference, with a focus on advocating, empowering, and supporting women. The day-long event held on April 18 in the Bemis International Center combined a lunch with keynote speaker with break-out sessions and a musical wrap-up performance. (0) comments
St. Norbert College's Peace and Justice Center, in collaboration with other on-campus groups including Environmental Club, hosted a week of diverse activities to promote Earth Day in a variety of ways among the campus community. Many environmentalists participated in the events to gain perspective on what can be done to improve our environment, while others simply wanted to show their love and respect for the earth. St. Norbert College's Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team recently won the regional title at the annual SIFE Regional Competition in Minneapolis, MN. SNC SIFE will now move on to the national competition in Philadelphia from May 10-12. SIFE, which is located on over 800 campuses across the nation, was established at SNC in 2001. (0) comments
