For the first three years of college, most students love the final month of school. The weather is finally warm, classes are coming to an end, and it's time to go home. "Summer always meant seeing my high school friends, it was something to look forward to and be happy about," reflects Kelly Fleming '09. When the final year of college rolls around, however, Fleming thinks that students find themselves faced with new emotions. "Even though I looked forward to summer the past three years, I'm finding it really hard to say goodbye now. I don't know exactly how I feel about going home this time." Fleming notes. What is it about this final year of college? Why is the desire to hang on so strong, the fear of uncertainty so real, and the surrounding friendships so comforting?
"You find yourself in college," Marjorie Ennenback 09 says. "You spend four long years experiencing a lot of good and even a lot of bad. No matter what happens along the way, though, you become a better, stronger person. It seems like once you realize how much you've learned here and you discover how confident you are, the world wants to challenge you again. Post graduation life is going to be difficult to adjust to - I feel like I've found a home here."
So seniors, what exactly have you learned? Funny, simple, significant or not...let those around you know your stories.

Words of Advice from SNC Seniors:
"Go to events on campus. People really struggle with good attendance at events here and it sucks - there are a lot of really great campus sponsored concerts, games, speakers and movies. It's a shame people don't take advantage of them." -Anonymous

"If you firmly believe that you are not a procrastinator, then you are simply in denial." - John Rappel

"Dance Dance Revolution at 2 a.m. will wake everyone in Burke up, even if you're on the first floor." - Jared Hackbart

"I learned that real friends are the ones who are just as excited as you are when good things happen, and just as upset for you when you're hurt. I learned that people who are jealous of you, who say mean things, or don't accept you for you, are not really your friends." - Anonymous

"Everyone should go abroad. It offers so many opportunities. Whether it's as simple as just getting out of De Pere or a crazy semester-long tour of ten countries in Europe, go. I have never met an SNC student or even a single person who went abroad and did not like it. Just go. There are so many places to be other than Minn., Wis., Ill., and Mich. Not that these states aren't great, but it is nice to step away from a comfort zone, trust me." - Mike Zera

"One thing that SNC will teach you, without a doubt, is what it means to truly be a part of a community." -Mike Buettner

-"Try and figure out what you're interested in and what classes you enjoy so that you can spend as much time as possible working toward who you want to become. I wish I hadn't wasted so much time with certain things." -Matt Konop

"No matter what you're told, don't let anyone convince you it's a Bubbler. It's not. It's a Drinking Fountain." -Anonymous

"It's okay to struggle with time management and multitasking your first year.your skills will definitely strengthen (if you put effort into them) throughout your four years here." - Angie Currie

"This is a really small environment so don't be surprised if people know a lot about what is going on in your personal life. Everyone is connected on this campus, somehow." Margaret Bodnovich
