2012 Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition
The 2012 Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition opened in Baer Gallery on February 3. The exhibition features thirty-five works of art, which were selected from a pool of seventy entries. Tom and Barbara Flanagan sponsor the exhibit in honor of Donald Taylor. Wisconsin artist, Sandra Martinez, juried the three award winners. Martinez's work has been exhibited in venues around the world.

Benassi and Mushero: Dual Soprano Supremes
It was a simple stage set-up: a lone piano and bench bathed in the glow of the spotlight before the red curtain of Walter Theatre. A patient silence as the house lights dimmed and the first of the day's two recitals began, with an elegantly dressed Isabella Benassi '12 and accompanist Sunny Link walked onstage. Without introduction or spoken word, Sunny seated herself and the recital began. After two elegant, foreign songs, Isabella bowed and exited the stage.

The Graffiti Art Exhibition opened on February 9 and was followed by a reception. The Graffiti Art Show can be viewed at the Clubhouse Gallery on the second floor of the Bush Art Center. The Clubhouse Gallery is a student-run art gallery that provides space managed by a student curator. The gallery is primarily dedicated to the exhibition of student artwork.

“Chronicle” Surpasses Found-Footage Conventions
Ever since the release of "Paranormal Activity", a lot of found-footage films have been flooding out of Hollywood. Most of the films, like "The Devil Inside" and "Apollo 18", aim to achieve the same type of cheap shock horror of "Paranormal Activity". However, once in a while a found-footage film breaks the typical conventions of the genre. One movie of this sort is "Cloverfield" which offered big budget spectacle by being a Godzilla movie filmed from the people's perspective. Another example is "The Last Exorcism", which offered horror thrills along with an interesting character study. "Chronicle", the latest found-footage film, delivers an intriguing take on the superhero movie.

One of America's most known singers has passed away. Whitney Houston, 48, was found dead, Saturday, in her hotel. The cause of death is unknown. Whitney is survived by her daughter Bobbi.

Reynolds’ Voice Shines in Senior Recital
Aaron Reynolds, a senior at St. Norbert College, and a candidate for the Bachelor of Music degree, showcased his talent at his Senior Recital on February 10. His recital drew an impressive crowd. Reynolds is a talented baritone and was accompanied by Anna Vanden Hogen '13 on the piano, with special appearances by his fellow musicians from the music department. Reynolds, from the studio of Dr. Michael Rosewell, associate professor of music.
